Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but everyone is attracted to health! When top front teeth have become thin, chipped, or brittle, feldspathic porcelain veneers add strength to the remaining tooth structure by providing a stiff front face. Our top front teeth are the only teeth in the mouth that receive most of their biting impact at an angle other than to the biting edge. Over time, the inside (lingual side) of the upper teeth become worn, and the tooth loses its original capacity to withstand biting and grinding forces. Compression fractures to front teeth need to be considered a health issue – not just an esthetic issue.

How we choose to restore the teeth is based on a guided conversation. Have we managed the excessive forces – or is the tooth simply breaking down due to regular wear and tear? How many teeth are involved? What is the current color of the teeth and what color would be ideal? If only one or two teeth are involved, it might make more sense to match the esthetics of the restorations to the existing teeth. If a more enhanced brightening of the smile is needed, perhaps more teeth should be considered in the project. To learn more about the cases, click on the picture sets.

Super Subtle

This category of dentistry generally seeks to blend whatever restorations are needed within the existing teeth, making minimal changes to either color or shape of teeth from what nature has created. This is an elegant solution for discerning patients wanting to have the dentistry done discreetly. The ceramist will use a broader variety of shades within his masterpiece, enhancing the variations of opacity and translucency that natural teeth often display.

Moderate Enhancement

Sometimes patients choose this category to make a more dramatic effect with the dentistry needed. Here you will see changes to the shape of the teeth, increased uniformity of alignment, and less variation in the shades/colors of the teeth than in the super subtle examples.

Maximum Brightening

A bold fresh overhaul is just what some people want! These examples have an almost completely homogeneous blend of porcelain colors and regularity to the alignment.
