This patient had experienced acid reflux, leading to a very thin tooth enamel that contributed to a grey-brown hue. Whitening had not solved her aesthetic need, as there simply was not enough thickness of enamel to whiten. Furthermore, the thinness of the enamel had weakened the structure of the tooth, and began causing tiny micro-cracks in the enamel.
All porcelain crowns were created to restore the original volume of the tooth. The color selected was in the same family of her natural teeth, but the optical property of thicker enamel or porcelain ultimately leads to a brighter overall appearance! The rigidity of the porcelain crowns increased the strength of her bite and greatly improved her confidence in aesthetics and in long-term stability of her bite.
