After three years of practicing dentistry and physical therapy side by side, Elizabeth Caughey DDS & Mike Cantrell MPT PRC teach their inaugural two day IPT (Integrative Physical Therapy) course in Apex NC.
In attendance were 8 dentists and 7 physical therapists – including a pediatric dentists and pediatric PT, and one physical therapy student! The course was designed as a primer to each profession for the other, teaching dentists about the mechanics of the body, and teaching the physical therapists about how the mouth functions to a deeper level, with layered learning through more complex case presentations. IPT=Integrative Postural Therapy is the brand name of Mike Cantrell’s and Elizabeth Caughey’s combined practices of physical therapy with dentistry.
Thanks to our mentors at the Postural Restoration Institute, Pankey Institute, and Piper Education Resource Center for inspiring and encouraging us to see beyond what is traditionally taught. Thanks to Herb Blumenthal DDS and Kent Moberly DDS for organizing the CE credits to be issued through the Acorn Study Club, where our mission is to spread the learning beyond what is commonly practiced.
